BREAKING: More Than 30 Illegal “Skill” Games Seized In Manassas Park Raid

BREAKING: Manassas Park Police say they have executed eight search warrants tied to illegal “skill” game operations, marking the city’s first major crackdown on unlawful gambling. Officials recovered more than 30 machines – found operating in gas stations, a strip mall, a pub and a private residence.

From the report:

“All locations were businesses open to the public,” said Captain Steven Loving of the Manassas Park Police Department. “Over 30 machines were recovered, and they were very similar to an arcade-type machine.”

While this bust is commendable, it’s only one step. Thousands of these illegal machines are still operating across Virginia, and it’s time we got serious about the threat they pose to our vibrant communities.

You don’t need to look far for proof…

Yesterday’s raid occurred just weeks after a Henry County man held store clerks at gunpoint while attempting to rob a “skill” machine. Thankfully no one was hurt, and the suspect was arrested and charged, but incidents like this – occurring frequently wherever “skill” games operate – demonstrate the clear danger that illegal gambling dens pose to Virginia communities.

The Manassas Park Police Department deserves credit for their prompt action and commitment to upholding Virginia law, but the fight doesn’t stop there. Responsible citizens can also help keep their communities safe by reporting “skill” games and illegal gambling operations in real time.

Now is the time to follow through to help keep neighborhood gambling OUT of Virginia.
