Illegal Martinsville Gambling Den Turns Dangerous After Armed Robbery
Another gambling parlor inside a local store has led to more crime in Virginia.
In case you missed it, a Martinsville man has been charged and arrested after vandalizing multiple illegal gambling machines at a local convenience store while holding staff members at gunpoint.
From the report:
“[The suspect] became irate after losing money playing a gaming machine. Witnesses told officers [The suspect] was armed and demanded money back from employees. [He] briefly left the store. Then returned with the firearm and a cordless angle grinder.”
Reports show that the suspect, a previously convicted felon, threatened convenience store staff and used his tools to damage the machines.
After Henry County deputies used video surveillance to confirm the attack, the suspect was arrested and charged with destruction of property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of burglary tools, and attempted robbery.
Luckily, no store clerks or civilians were injured in this case – but this sort of dangerous crime is a story we hear all too often in the Commonwealth and everywhere dangerous neighborhood slots operate.
All bets are off when it comes to the safety of our communities when neighborhood slot machines are around.
